The paperback of The Forgotten Legion is continuing to do well, I’m delighted to say. Nearly 3,000 sold now since the release date…I’ve been arranging book signings for The Silver Eagle too…in early June I will be doing a couple in Bath, one in Bristol, and more after that…there’s a very good chance that I’ll be appearing at the York Roman Festival on the second Bank Holiday weekend in May, and at the Living History weekend at Kelmarsh Hall in Northamptonshire on the 25th and 26th of July. I’m really looking forward to all of the events, as I’ve not done any formal book signings yet, and I have only appeared at one Roman location before – at the Lunt fort near Coventry, last summer.

I got word today that over 1,ooo copies of The Forgotten Legion paperback sold in the first week, which is excellent! Here’s to its continued success…

Waterstone’s are featuring The Forgotten Legion paperback as an ‘Offer of the Week’ with prominent displays in all stores from the 8th to the 15th April. I couldn’t resist going to a few to see the book in situ. Visited the Bath store, as well as The Galleries in central Bristol and out at Cribbs Causeway, and signed every copy that I could. Got my photo taken too – by a Japanese tourist who seemed most bemused when he opened the book, looked at the photo and then at me. After taking a snapshot, he went and bought a copy. Fair play to him!

To let you know some late news – I’ve finished with The Silver Eagle manuscript – at last! The map is sorted too, and it will be going to press in the next week…after a proof reader (they check for grammatical mistakes etc.) has been at it. That means the printed books will be ready about a month before publication on June 4th.

It’s a really exciting feeling to hold a new book in your hand that you’ve actually written. I’ve only done it twice so far (the hardback and paperback of The Forgotten Legion) but it felt great, and I’m looking forward to repeating the experience.

My aim is to publish an interesting website with the usual stuff about my books, and a blog that keeps my readers up to date. It will be live in time for the launch of the paperback edition of my first novel – The Forgotten Legion, which was released in the UK on the 9th of April by Waterstone’s. I think other sellers will be hot on their heels.

In the near future, I’m intending to write short stories which will run on the same timeline as The Forgotten Legion and The Silver Eagle, but which have not been published. Hopefully this will prove popular, in which case it could become a regular feature. I aim to get a readers forum up and running here too, as well as the occasional competition.

At last the paperback edition of The Forgotten Legion is here! After no less than three hardback print runs, my publishers have released the book in a form that’s easy-on-the-pocket in every way.
