Some of you may have already heard of this, but I thought it was worth putting up anyway. An American TV channel called STARZ has recently released a new series called Spartacus: Blood and Sand. It’s a no holds barred, fast moving and extremely graphic depiction of gladiatorial life. You can watch the first two episodes free here. Despite the multiple historical inaccuracies, academics are praising the series, which is very intriguing. Read an interesting article from the London Times here. Those who live in the UK might be keen to know that the TV station Bravo has acquired the first two series. Apparently they will start running in the summer on pay-per-view TV, but will then be available over the Internet (free, I think). I, for one, will be watching.
