After last week’s great news, things got even better as Spartacus climbed one place to reach No. 3 in the UK bestseller chart. It’s the highest position that I’ve ever reached, and it feels great! Thanks again to everyone who has bought the book, and propelled it to such heights. I also found a good review of it at Medieval Bookworm, which was cool.
The Guardian reviewed the audio version of The Forgotten Legion the other day, which was a surprise. Amazing the things that searching Twitter or Google can throw up! The article is here. There’s also a good mention of Robert Fabbri’s Vespasian, and Suetonius’ Twelve Caesars.

Great stuff. I bought the book last week, so maybe my purchase made a difference…….
Enjoying the novel so far having reached page 357. I particularly liked the little joke about Priapus along the way 🙂

Hi Ben,
Congratulations on getting to number 3!! That is fantastic news! Got my copy sent over from Goldsboro books. Can’t wait to read it. Just about to start it…
Just finished reading Dark Prince by David Gemmell…if you haven’t read it and the first in the series, Lion of Macedon, I heartily recommend them.
Cheers,
Matt

@Matty18: cheers for posting! Thanks too for your good wishes, and I’m glad that Spartacus has arrived with such good timing.
People rave about Gemmell’s Macedon books, and I have never read them. (Parmenion, where are you? 🙂 ) I must must get around to reading them some day. Legend and the first few books were novels that I adored and devoured as they were published. Very occasionally, people compare my writing to that of Gemmell, which makes me very proud indeed. Humbled too. OK, back to writing. Just hit 120k words in Spartacus: Rebellion yesterday. Onwards!

Ben,
Many congratulations on second week in top five. Great stuff, and very well deserved. Stay big for next week.

@Harry: Thanks very much, Harry. Still at no. 6 this week, so fingers crossed that it can stay in the top ten for a fourth week…
