Tues. 23rd November: news imminent…

23 November 2010 by Ben Kane 11 Comments

I’m happy to say that I should, all things being equal and the gods continuing to smile on me, be able to announce an exciting new project within the next day or two. It’s something I’ve wanted to work on for years, and I’m so excited that it’s finally come within my grasp…I’d love to say more, but the final deal hasn’t been done…yet…

    Well done Ben! You got the rights to do the screenplay of my life story. Remember this. I’m being played by Gryff Rhys-Jones. Look forward to your other great news…..

    Dang, Les, how did you guess? ๐Ÿ˜‰
    No, it’s not that, but when I do write your screenplay, I’ll make sure to contact Griff first off.
    I’m going to write about…I’m burning up with wanting to say, but I can’t. Not until the publisher gives the final green light…

    You’re burning up!! I’m sweating with anticipation!! Don’t know why but the Assyrians came into my head. A period long neglected by a good novel. I once roleplayed the military commander the Rab Shaqe so i know the blood thristy nature of the period.

    The deal has been agreed – fifteen minutes ago – so the news will go out tomorrow, all being well. It’s not the Assyrians, Les…although I’d agree with you that it would make a good time frame for a novel.

    Have you ever thought about doing a Hist fic book about a real person? Richard Burton ? (explorer not actor).
    CC Humpries did an excellent and very under appreciated (IMHO) book about Vlad Tepis… and its those characters that have facts that make fiction look weak in comparison that are often missed and would really stand out if written by decent authors such as yourself.

    Not thought about that far forward in history, no. It’s an idea… ๐Ÿ™‚ I have so many blinking ideas in my head, however, that there’s no room – currently – for more. Will file away. And thanks for calling me decent! ๐Ÿ˜‰

    I hear you on the blinking ideas, lol. I got a bunch of those myself, and new discoveries like the Kalefeld/Harzhorn battlefield aren’t helping with that. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Maximinus Thrax should make for an interesting character.

    @Gabriele – it’s great that you have so many ideas! Long may that continue to be the case (and for me). I worry about the day when I wake up and think ‘I can’t come up with an idea for a new book’. ๐Ÿ™

    Dont worry if you ever run out…we are all here to provide help..LOL!!

    Ben, I don’t think it will happen, and there are always history books and visits to historical sites – you have some of those around, I think ๐Ÿ˜‰ – to invite a new warren full of plotbunnies.

    In fact, it’s more a problem to keep them from sticking to my ankles when I visit old castles, Roman battlefields and whatnot. I’m sure they hide in the bushes and wait for unsuspecting writers to come by, then they pounce. ๐Ÿ™‚

    @Parmenion: haha, ta!
